Prompt: What’s under your mattress/pillow? Why?

Lost and Found
by Lisa

I roll onto my side, pressing one ear to the soft pillow beneath my head. A million different voices and visions swim through my head and mold into one. Any attempt to separate them would fail and I know this.

I feel the cool skin at my back and that same cool as a hand slides around my waist to pull me back closer to him.

“Dru, love. You went away.”

He pushes my hair aside to kiss at the back of my neck causing goose bumps to rise all over my skin. “I’m listening…”

“To what? Can I bring you back?”

“Back and forth, this way and that. We can’t make them sleep. They’re too excited, full of need and want.” His hand slides, in a gentle caress, down to my stomach and then lower. He’s always gentle with me when I’m lost like this, as if I might break. The voices seem farther away, muffled by the pillow and then farther into the mattress.

“I’m willing to bet we can make them sleep, pet.”

I roll onto my back and look at him. “They’re lost in the pillows; voices and pictures.” His lips are at my neck, teasing in a playful dance. “My William…”

“There you are…” He whispers against my neck, pushing one of my legs to the side. “Found you, love. I always find you.”

A deliciously wicked laugh escapes me as I arch up into the touch. Part of me wonders what I was laughing at, and then all is lost to the bedding beneath me. My only focus is on what is happening above it. “Lost and found… always found.” One hand goes to the back of his neck to pull him down into a wet, heated kiss.
