She hasn’t looked
For a long time
Because there are so
Many things that she
Does not approve of.

Stealing,
Rape,
And murder-
Those are some of
The things
That Miss Edith
Does not approve of.

So she does not
Look.

Fornication,
Destruction,
And theft-
Those are some of
The things
That Miss Edith
Does not approve of.

So she does not
Look.

Cannibalism,
Gluttony,
And drunkenness-
Those are some of
The things
That Miss Edith
Does not approve of.

So she does not
Look.

She was raised
Better than that.
Miss Edith was.
But her eyes see
Everything,

Her hands
Can do nothing to
Stop what
She does not
Approve of:
They are made
Of porcelain.

So she asks
Miss Drusilla
To blind her
Unblinking
Blue eyes.

Miss Drusilla
Obliges
By covering
Them with
A black ribbon.

So why does
Miss Edith
Still see
Things
That she does
Not approve of?

Because Miss Drusilla
Does not close
Her own blue eyes,
And her hands of flesh
Belong to a demon.

And a demon may
Do as it pleases,
Weather or not
Miss Edith approves.

So Miss Edith
Has to
Watch.

A hundred
Black ribbons
Will never block out
The sights that
Miss Drusilla
Sees.
