Typecasting

by _-SuN-_

No character can escape it. But Poor Dru has been doubly typecast as a weak, co-dependant vampiress who not only can't hold her own, but sprouts of rubbish that never makes sense, not even with hindsight.

Drusilla is by no means a one dimensional character. If you fail to give her depth, you're story will be lifeless and monotone, regardless if you have a dynamic and unusually astonishing plot idea. Don't allow yourself to use mediocre words to illustrate your character(s).

True, she sometimes appears to be more locked into her own distinct world, like looking in a black glass mirror. I'm not prepared to say she has moments of lucidity, as I see Dru's madness as more of her personality trait than something that comes and goes.

Though, her visions can be unreliable. As we see in Becoming (( knowing about Acathla before the rest of them, )) and in Reunion (( when she senses Angelus setting them on fire. )), she's sometimes unable to translate them as Cordelia does.

She is physically strong (( IE: tossing Angel around like a rag doll in BBB )), confident (( need I give an example? Okay, physically confident = vinyl pants and halter top, Reunion and Redefinition. Self-confident = fighting a slayer, Becoming. )), and a Sadist/Masochist. (( Meaning she loves to give pain [WML part 2 when she dosed Angel with Holy Water] and enjoys being on the receiving end [Darla, "You won't even hurt me just a little bit"] ))
