Author's Note: The first is from Krazylokoguy's icon of Simon from Firefly with the word longing. The second is Desoto_hia873's icon of Miss Piggy gazing at Puppet!Angel with the phrase "The Moment I Forgot about Kermit."
Simon tries not to think about her too much, but it’s hard not to run into her at least a dozen times a day; Serenity really isn’t all that big. Even when she’s not right in front of him, she’s still always present, like the hum of the engine in the background. Kaylee is sunshine and laughter, no guilt or fear in sight anywhere around her.
And that’s why he knows he should stay as far away from her as possible. He can only hurt her. There’s a price on his head, and his place is with his sister. He knows he can’t really offer her anything, that he’d be taking from her but offering nothing in return. But still, he can’t help thinking of her, the sweet smile on her face when she sees him, the way she laughs in a way a person can only if she hasn’t seen the worst of humanity, the smudge of oil on her nose that is somehow more alluring to him that Inara’s perfume.
But for now, he tells himself, he doesn’t have the right to want her, let alone have her. Maybe some other day, if the world turns upside-down and right-side-out again, maybe then he could finally do something other than dream of her, but until then, there is nothing but longing.
Kermit wasn't answering her calls. Again. Miss Piggy, she said to herself, you have gotten entirely too used to being treated like swill. If short, green, and slimey hasn't wised up by now and realized what a goregous dame you are, it wasn't going to happen.
"I spent the best years of my youth on that drip!" she spat angrily, slamming a box of bon-bons at the TV. It had been empty, of course. She was heartbroken and furious, not stupid. However, the box had happened to hit the on button, and the plasma screen (a girl has to pamper herself, particularly if she is a glittering star) suddenly came to life. The image it held made her jaw drop. There may have been drool present, but, gentle reader, as I don't want a sock in the mouth, we shall say there was not.
"Whoa, BABY!" she yelled lustily. "Come to Mama!"
As Angel, recently puppetfied, slung a sword over his shoulders and walked with determination to do battle with evil, Miss Piggy's delicate emotions began to quiver with delight.
"That is one HOT piece of HAMHOCK!" she said, giving an appreciative hoot and holler. "Aw, yeah, baby, strut it on out! Work it for me!"
She dashed out the front door, keys to her pink Caddillac jingling madly, bent on the mission of tracking down that piece of felty goodness and teaching him exactly what the benefits of being raised in a barnyard were. Kermit? Kermit who? Green had never really been her color anyway.
